(2) In the UK the amount of face-to-face social interaction has declined as the use of electronic media increases. What are the possible implications of this ‘i-pod oblivion’ and can the detrimental impact be minimised?
(3) Do commercial pressures have a negative impact on science? Consider, for example, whether the strong links between industry and universities means that academics are not able to act independently, or whether scientific research would suffer without the cooperation of business.
