Probing Perspectives on Culturally Responsive Practices

Probing Perspectives on Culturally Responsive Practices

Module 2 Discussion
Probing Perspectives on Culturally Responsive Practices
As a change leader, you will encounter opportunities and challenges to advocate for social justice. Sometimes the leadership you provide will be unambiguous; other times it will require more thoughtful discernment and judgment. Johnson (2012) offers guidelines that support culturally responsive leadership in situations where prejudice, stereotyping, and/or ethnocentrism are likely. These guidelines include mindfulness, dignity and integrity, moral inclusion, and cosmopolitanism.CLICK HERE TO GET MORE.........
To prepare for this Discussion, examine an example of a culturally-based dilemma in an education context in Case Study 10.1, “Religious Clothing in the Classroom” (Johnson, 2012, pp. 368–369). Review Johnson’s guidelines and incorporate them in your consideration of multiple perspectives for how to provide leadership to address the dilemma in the case study.
By Day 7 of Week 3:
Post your response to the following:
Is it possible to observe Johnson’s guidelines for culturally responsive leaders and still not allow students to wear religious clothing to public school?
Defend your stance, addressing Johnson’s guidelines as well as any of your own readings in your response.CLICK HERE TO GET MORE.........
