Designing a Knowledge Management System (KMS) – A case study

Designing a Knowledge Management System (KMS)
A case study design a knowledge management system to improve the organization in the case study you analysed in assignment 1 and address the knowledge
need and issues. Your earlier assignment focused on detecting what knowledge was in (or was needed in) the case study situation. This
assignment allows you to look over all the components of a (Knowledge Management System) and apply them appropriately to the case
study.
Describe your proposal for a system of (Knowledge Management System)
components to help manage knowledge in the case study and explain how it would work (possibly with scenarios).
These systems may complement and work with other information systems and business processes in the case study to form a coherent architecture, so it is
important to identify those relevant systems and processes.
use scenarios to show how your proposal looks – that is, take one transaction or situation and walk through it showing at each step how your
(Knowledge Management System) is used to improve the situation.
Assessment: We are looking for evidence of
a) Your appreciation of
(Knowledge Management System) components, how they interrelate and how they fit with other information systems to form an architecture, and
b) Your ability to mobilize and apply that knowledge to come up with designs that intervene in the case study situation.
Approach: Start
with the Study Guide on Moodle and read the articles on KMS components and on designing knowledge systems (I attach it in the PowerPoint
file). Find an architecturalldesign model that you are comfortable with and use that as a basis for your design. While you are doing this,Click Here To Get More On This Paper!!!!
start to consider how each component is applicable to your case study and write a page or so on each. You will now have a rough draft ofthe
first part ofthe assignment. Now, check out the general references and search the web for new ideas about other kinds of knowledge systems
or technologies that might apply to your case and how they could be tailored or designed.
Be imaginative! You are free to speculate about
(or to invent) systems that don’t exist but that would be wonderful.
Students who do well in this assignment pick a very discretelnarrow
knowledge arealtopic and provide a detailed design. Students who attempt to design an enterprise-wide system usually fail to provide
sufficient detail or address all ofthe design areas.
The case study: Maroochy Water Services Case Study.
This case study involves an
intentional, targeted attack by a knowledgeable person on an industrial control system” (Abrams, see link below)
