The learner will: The learner can:
1. Know the principles of light and electron microscopes.
1.1 Compare light and electron microscopes in terms of matters such as clarity, resolution or magnification.
2. Recognise and understand the function of cell organelles.
2.1 Identify and give functions of cell organelles.
3. Discuss the role of the cell membrane in the movement of substances in and out of the cell.
3.1 Describe membrane structure.
3.2 Define and compare diffusion, osmosis and active transport.
4. Understand the function of a variety of cells and four tissue types relating their structures to functions.
4.1 Consider how the structure of the four tissue types is related to their function.
4.2 Describe how cell structure is linked to function.
5. Show a knowledge of levels or organisation in the human body.
