Directions:
1. Read the introduction and all poems in chapter 12, Situation and Setting: What Happens? Where? When?
2. Choose any poem in the chapter and perform a close reading of the poem’s meaning. Discuss how the poet uses creative language and symbolism to describe a situation and/or setting. Make sure to be as specific as you can and point to particular lines or quotes from the poem to explain your points.
