Tolstoy’s theory in What is Ar

Discuss Tolstoy’s theory in What is Art? and assess it critically. What is the definition of
art that Tolstoy rejects and why? What is the nature and purpose of art according to him?
How does he support his definition? What are the criteria he proposes to distinguish
genuine art from counterfeit art? How one should judge what is good or bad art according
to him? Do you agree with his definition of art and the criteria he suggests? Why? Can
you bring any art examples to support or challenge his theory?
