You will need to research an archive article for the following topics then do according to the criteria for this essay.



Topics can be one of the following:
1) Child’s sexual and abuse
2) Children’s labour
Aim: To identify the child’s or youth person’s perspective and a theoretical perspective on childhood within archive material.
1st ~Criteria for essay:
1) Clear evidence of the use of archive material as a primary source.
2) Evidence of the attempt to identify the child’s or young person’s perspective.
3) Identification of a theoretical perspective on childhood found within the selected archive material.
4) References – Links made to other academic evidence to support analysis and place the selected documents in their historical context.
5) Critical analysis evidencing thinking at third year undergraduate level but recognising constraints of student knowledge.
Next please choose one of the following two essays titles:
1) Critically analyses the changing nature of ‘Childhood’ and ‘Youth’ over time with reference to the key drivers for change, the contributions made by pioneers and agencies, and an evaluation of the effectiveness of these.

2nd ~Criteria for essay:
1) Clear introduction and rationale for choice of topic.
2) Identification and critical analysis of key themes from the literature.
3) Identification of different theoretical constructs of childhood/youth
4) Critique of the role of agencies/pioneers to changes in concepts of ‘childhood.
5) Evaluation of historical evidence relevant to the chosen themes.
6) Integration of child/young person’s perspective on chosen themes.
