If an organization is serious about its commitment to diversity, one would expect that this would be reflected in the design, content and graphics of the web site. Potential employees, customers, suppliers, etc. often turn to the website before initiating interaction with an organization. Evaluate how accessible diversity-related material is on the website. Is there a direct link from the homepage? What type of results does entering the term ?diversity? in a search box yield? Or, do you have to explore on your own? What does their representation tell you about this company? Are there any preconceived ideas you have had about the company before you investigated the website? Were they met? Disappointed? Why? Research the company?s history relative to diversity issues. Have there been any actions against the company? What evidence exists that demonstrates the company is (or is not) committed to diversity? What the current and future impacts for this company relative to diversity in its employee base, customer base, and supplier base?
How diverse is its Board of Directors? Management team?
Evaluate the usefulness of the diversity information to potential employees, customers, and suppliers. Is the diversity material related to the organization?s business case for diversity, core values, mission, e.g. the way the organization does business? How current is the diversity-related material? Evaluate the appropriateness of the photographs, graphics that relate to diversity. Is it representative of the diversity of all constituent populations? What does it communicate about the company? What perceptions might the constituents have about the company (deal with each constituent separately)? What internal management issues can affect the prominence that diversity gets or doesn?t get on an organization?s website? Demonstrate the best and worst features of the website. Include a minimum of two company websites for your illustrations and background research
