Business Strategy and Policy:

1. For this week we will discuss competitive rivalry;
• Therefore do some research into 2 companies that you feel are competitive rivals, (please pick hospitals in New York Lenox Hill and any other one)
• (THEY CANNOT BE FROM THE FAST FOOD COMPANIES!).
• Explain why you feel they are competitive rivals and how do you think that they are each trying to beat out the competition.
HEA350 Long Term and Residential Care:

HEA470 Issues in Contemporary Health Services Management:
3. Case 2: Addressing Challenges to Cultural and Linguistic Competence in
Field Placements and Practicum Settings
Faculty have noted a growing trend in the past three years that students
are increasingly reporting incidents in their practicum settings in which
they witness bias, stereotyping, and discrimination resulting in questionable
quality of care or other disparities in care.
Students routinely
report clear violations of Title VI in which patients and their families
are denied language access services. Students state that they are reluctant
to speak up because it may negatively impact their practicum experience,
yet there are ethical and moral considerations that often place them
in untenable situations.
Faculty and staff have discussed these issues and have not reached agreement on how best to support the students and maintain the number of placements that are needed for the internships. The dean convened a team to develop strategies and a plan of action to address these issues.
As a team member, how would you approach this problem in collaboration with your colleagues?
Open with a thread and then respond to the threads of 4 other students.
MGT249 Human Resources Management:
4. What are some factors that can make for a good/effective interview?
5. What are some factors that can undermine the usefulness of an interview? How can these be overcome?
6. Add 3 sentences (and only 3 sentences) to share your experience of a good (or bad) interview that you had and why it was good (or bad). (The focus of your post and comments to your classmates should be on Questions 4 and 5. Question 6 is optional, a nice to do, and will not factor in the assessment of the quality assessment of your posts.)
