Scenario
Ari has just come back from a five day suspension which was a result of his ongoing aggressive behaviour in the classroom. The teacher is concerned that he may injure another student in the class who has cerebral palsy. The teacher has a parent teacher interview scheduled with Ari’s father tomorrow.
Scenario response: Describe how the teacher should plan for, conduct and reflect upon this communicative experience.
In responding to this scenario include:
Stage 1: Setting up the parent teacher interview – making reference to apprehensive behaviours.
Stage 2: Conducting the meeting. The communication processes and protocols utilised in the meeting – including stages of perception.
Stage 3: Reflecting upon the meeting and the communication following on from the meeting. Make mention of self reflection in relation to the Johari window. Make reference to a code of professional conduct relevant to your schooling sector e.g. Education Queensland’s Code of Conduct.
