GIS Software Development

Order Instructions:
to write a program, herein the Drainage Tool (DT), that creates a simplified, but connected, drainage model from unstructured input data. The DT will also calculate a variety of parameters on the drainage model: slope, bearing and basin within. The DT must be written in Python using ESRI’s ArcPy library. It should run as a toolbox tool. You must use your tool to construct a DT model for Mexico using the data supplied, but should also work with other similar data.
Ideally you will submit:
1. Neat and well commented working code that can be run as an ArcGIS tool.
2. Any pre-processed input data.
3. An instruction manual describing how the tool works as well as any preprocessing that might be required, e.g. what data formats does it support.
4. A map document illustrating the DT output.
This is a challenging task and you may well not complete it. While completing the task in its entirety is required for the highest grades, a good B is however quite possible if well documented large code snippets are submitted. If you are unable to complete the task in its entirety you should submit:
1. Neat, well commented and operational code organized so as to demonstrate what you have achieved. For example, if you are unable to create streamlines for the lakes (stage 5 in the workflow shown in figure 5) stitch you code together so that it works, but ignores lakes. Every bit of working code you can supply and demonstrate where it is applicable to the problem will be credited. Include any data required to run your code.
2. A report describing what you have achieved and a description of all accompanying items of code. What do they do? What problems could you not overcome? Pseudocode, diagram or text that describes how you think the code should operate.
