Health care

Topic: Capital Punishment
Actual question used on the survey that will be your dependent variable: Is Capital Punishment acceptable? (Let's say the survey respondents said either Yes or No)
Independent variables (what you think may be associated with whether the survey respondent said either yes or no): gender, political party, religious preference (let's say respondents said either woman/man; republican/democrat; and Christian/Jewish/Muslim/ or Buddhist, etc)

Your paper in this case would be investigating whether or not gender, political party, and religious preference are associated with more or less support for capital punishment. So your research question would be something like: Does gender, political party affiliation, or religious preference influence support of capital punishment?

Your independent factors MUST be focused on individual level characteristics of people who are 18 years or older. In other words, something that can be measured by a survey question. Remember, for our hypothetical survey these questions are asked along side the question about our dependent variable.

So in this example for your gender variable you should be looking for articles that say something like: women are more likely to oppose capital punishment compared to men. For your religious preference variable you should be looking for an article that says something like: Christians and Muslims are more likely to support the death penalty, while Jews and those of other faiths are less likely to support the death penalty.

Please keep this in mind while you are completing Computer Exercise 4 and while you are searching for peer-reviewed academic articles.

In sum:
-the paper is based on survey results
-your paper topic must come from computer exercise 4
-the survey question in computer exercise 4 is NOT your research question
-independent variables should be focused on the individual characteristics of adults.
