Mathematical Fact Sheet

Each student will be required to design and produce a mathematical fact sheet. You will be
allocated a mathematical

concept (DECIMALS) that relates to some aspect of one ofthe topics covered

within this unit. Your fact sheet will need to include

appropriate text and visuals. You need to

include various representations of your selected concept. The fact sheet should contain
accurate

mathematical content. Your fact sheet should provide evidence that you have

analysed your concept in detail and covered all essential

salient features. In addition, the fact

sheet should explain and provide examples ofthe importance ofthe mathematical concept.
Why is

this mathematics important? What applications does this mathematics have to real
world situations? Who would be likely to use this

mathematics in real life? Provide examples

to justify your selection ofthe concept.

All fact sheets must be prepared using appropriate

computer applications. You are restricted

to double sided A4. They need not be printed as they need to be submitted via the Moodle
drop

box for Assignment 1. Due to the fact that your allocated topic will be recorded by your
tutor, students are not to change topics without

prior discussion and approval by the unit

convener.

The fact sheet needs to be written with teachers being the target audience. It is
envisaged that

if students are prepared to share their fact sheet with others a useful collection of resource
information would be

available for future teaching of mathematics.
