Is it because their themes are timeless? Or do we have a simple fascination with the past because it is so different, or perhaps not very different, from our own time? Do these films and their stories merely become vehicles through which the films’ creators can interject their own views and opinions about more modern concerns? Do these stories, in spite of their mythological setting, merely reflect the values and beliefs of today’s world? Choose one of the films listed below, watch it, and then write a 2-3 page essay in which you address one of these questions. For a 2-3 page paper, you only need to focus on just a few or even one specific scene from your chosen movie. Be as specific as possible by giving examples from the film to illustrate and support your points.
