Violent Behavior in Institutions.

Description:
There have not been a lot of statistics published lately on what kinds of violent assaults human services workers experience, and happily overall violent crime in the United States is down in the last 5 years. Of 13,636 murders in the United States in 2009, only 10 occurred in institutions, according to the FBI’s 2009 Uniform Crime Report. However, according to the FBI’s 2009 Uniform Crime Report the vast majority of workplace violence is composed of nonfatal assaults. There are several precipitating factors such as mental illness. Delusions, hallucinations (multiple disorders), and violent fantasies (sex offenders, multiple murderers) are all cues to possible violence in the mentally ill. Organic issues such as internal head injuries, brain diseases, and dementia all have the potential for increased violence (McNeil, 2009; Monahan et al., 2001; Tardiff, 2003). The personality disorders are rife with the kinds of mental disorders that may become violent. Many of the personality disorders are marked by anger control issues, impulsivity, and inability to regulate or control emotions (Newhill, 2003, pp. 99–104). Most particularly, those persons diagnosed with antisocial personality disorders and those with explosive personality disorders are prime candidates for acute onset of anger and violence (McNeil, 2009), and is this precisely behavior is the one that really upset me the most while at the same time worries me the most as well. Working for more than six years with mentally ill population, is the sociopath behavior the one I've poorly deal with. In other words this is basically a human been that doesn’t care for others but themselves only, and unfortunately the hardest type of behavior having a final diagnose. I have been either teaching and dealing with this type of personality and I will assure you there is not harder, nasties person as a sociopath, and sometimes a narcisistic person which I call a sociopath with class.

Based on the above statement, and as part of the current week assignment you need to develop a paperwork on APA format, (please use my template to avoid writing/formatting mistakes), including the mentioned precipitating factors, institutional/ staff culpability, dynamic of violence in human services settings, intervention strategies and follow up with victims. Each of point should be included as a first level of heading in your paperwork, 850 words minimum excluding citations and references. Happy writing!.
