Industrial hygiene sampling

research an industrial hygiene sampling event and develop a comprehensive
exposure assessment
report. Students can select from:
• Asbestos exposure from the World Trade Center disaster
In your paper, you will discuss:
• What was going on during sampling?
• What was your sampling method?
• What are your results?
You are expected to use the AIHA Statistical Spreadsheet to assist you in analyzing the data. Click
here to access the
AIHA Statistical Spreadsheet. You will also need to discuss:
• The descriptive statistics for the dataset
• The number of samples above the OEL (if any)
• What the 95th percentile exposure level would be?
• What exposure category you would put the workers' exposure into (e.g., 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4)?
You will find that each data set has a number of samples broken down into different activities.
Assume that each activity would be a different SEG. Select 1 or 2 SEGs for the purpose of your
analysis and report.
If you choose to use the World Trade Center data, you can choose from either the Lower Manhattan
Asbestos Data, or the Staten Island Asbestos Data. You can find the data at the following OSHA
website: http://www.osha.gov/nyc- disaster/wtc.html

If you choose to use the Deepwater Horizon dataset, focus on the potential benzene exposure. You
will also need to select one SEG / task for the purpose of your research (e.g., boat operators,
beach cleanup). The dataset is very large and you will want to keep your research focused to a
manageable level. It would be acceptable to select a few of the SEGs for comparison. For example,
you could compare the boat operator’s exposure to that of the beach cleanup crew. You can find the
data on the OSHA website at the following address:

An example report is provided to give you an idea of how to properly develop a comprehensive
written report. Your report does not have to follow this exactly; it is provided as an example
only. However, your report should address all 10 items listed above for full credit.

Action Potential and Ulnar Nerve Conduction

• Make notes about what each section will contain, then go back and fill in from there
• Start with your results (this will make things easier for you in this case)
o Note the base data you have
o Note each concept you will need to explain in your introduction to allow the reader to understand your results
§ Note the terms you will need to define
§ Note the relationships between terms or concepts you will need to introduce and explain
§ Don’t forget that you may need to introduce concepts you will use as the basis for you conclusions as well
o Note each conclusion you want to draw from your data in your discussion section
o Look for sources to support your statements in both your introduction and discussion
Organize your data to present it clearly:
• Consider your conclusions before organizing your data for its final presentation
o You want the overall organization of your results to provide a logical flow
§ You will need to refer back to your data in your conclusions
§ Avoid having your data randomly arranged, try to keep it in a logical flow
§ If you are drawing specific comparisons between data points, it would be good to have those points closely related
in a single table, graph, or figure to allow the reader to easily refer back to them and see the relationships you are
referring to
• You want your data to be clear and concise in both text and table form.
o Don’t make tables that are more complicated than they have to be
§ Sometimes it can’t be avoided, but nothing we are doing would require that much complexity
o Don’t spread your data across multiple tables if a single one will allow for a quicker or easier comparison
§ Having the numbers side by side in clearly labeled rows or columns often provides a quick view of the differences
§ Even if you have multiple tables of data, a unified graph may provide a good comparison as well
• Often a graphical presentation is the best way to demonstrate relationships between data
o Be sure to organize and label the tables clearly so they are easily understood
§ Provide a clear and concise title for each table
§ Provide a clear and concise title for each row or column
§ Provide all units
Proofread your report or have someone else proofread it for you. (having an outside person read over it is the best option)
• If possible, have someone else read through your report and mark anything that stands out
o Any grammar errors
o Confusing or bad phrasing
o Concepts that are presented but not defined or explained
o Numbers that don’t look right (this requires someone who already knows what you are talking about)
o Tables or figures that are confusing
You must support your statements:
• Consider why we cite outside sources
o To rely on the authority or expertise of someone else
o To give due credit for previous work
• The more solidly you can support the statements you make, the better the report is
o You need either solid logic or an outside source to support your reasoning
o Ask yourself: How do I know this is true?
• Common knowledge does not need support
• Fire is hot, water is wet, the sky is blue
• Empirical observation does not need support, just description
• The subject was observed to be breathing
• Concepts and terminology should be supported and/or explained
• Tidal volume is the volume of air moved into and out of the lungs during quite breathing (Author, year).
• The subject’s reduced total lung capacity may have been caused by years of smoking (Author, year).

electronic technology impact on the newspaper or magazine industries

In what ways, whether positive or negative, is electronic technology impacting the newspaper or magazine industries? What might these changes hold for the future? Can printed media survive the Internet? Should it?
Text Book: The Media of Mass Communication, by John Vivian. Eleventh Edition. Pearson Allyn and Bacon, 2012.
This paper for a Mass Media Communication Class
It is a general education course I am taking to help achieve my associates in paralegal
instructions: For each assignment, choose one prompt and answer it in a short essay of 1-2 double-spaced pages. Each essay should fully consider the question(s) and should pull from the course readings, as well as your own experiences and opinions, if applicable. Show me that you’ve really thought about your topic and that you have a full understanding of this issue. Your essay should have both a strong introduction (with a thesis statement that clearly states your argument) and a strong conclusion.
Teachers Expectations:
Uses outside sources and cites them. [Later addition: In this case by "outside sources" I mean not just the student's own ideas or memory. I do not necessarily mean any texts, websites, or anything else beyond the Vivian textbook except as noted in my replies to Meagan's posts below. Here's an improved version of this first commonality that I have observed in papers receiving a 4.0:
Contains information or arguments from one or more reputable sources (e.g. the Vivian textbook, etc.) and cites them.]
Arguments backed up by facts (which are cited).
Grammar is good.
Excellent organization of argument.
Argument flows well from one point to the next.
Every aspect of the questions and prompts is answered. (I recommend making outlines of assignments in order to help you to do this and stay on track.)
No or almost no irrelevant topics are brought up.
Paper is much closer to the higher end of the range of acceptable length (i.e. 500 words) than to the lower end of the range (i.e. 250 words) without being prolix.
Any terms used in the description of the assignment are defined well.
Except when answering questions about one’s self (such as in response to a prompt to describe one’s own level of media literacy or one’s own history), the paper is not a discussion of one’s own personal experiences and not written in the first person. (So, words such as “you,” “I,” “your,” “my,” and so on are not present in the paper except in the unique situation mentioned in the previous sentence.)

International Marketing Strategy.

Case 2 International marketing
This issue will affect negatively to our cash flow because 12% from our overall products are from Japan, and it generates 19% profit. We should provide brief strategies to solve this problem.
There are risks that directly affect Fam-Mart because it is a big deal in the USA if someone dies because of foods. This based problem has grown into some risks those arewe need to give a big effort to get our license to sell this product back in the USA, and we should be responsible for the victims. Right now, our canned fruits is going to be hold at the dock until FDA gives the approval. We are responsible to pay for the warehouse, and this will most likely negatively impacts our short-term liability. Furthermore, we are going to lose our brand credibility because people don’t want to purchase our Japanese canned fruit products. They are afraid that this canned fruit could harm their health. Therefore, I should come up with effective actions to overcome these issues.
First of all, I need to fight for getting the foods license back, so I can send canned fruit products to my own warehouse, and sell it. Thus, I should prove that his product meet the standard of the USA canned products. As a vice president of the Fam-Mart I am going to hire 50 employees for food quality assurance, and conduct extensive researches on this product. I want to find the poisonous substances in this product that harmful for human’s health.
Then after I found the problem at this Japanese canned fruit, I will organize documentation, and report it to the USA government to address this issue with the Japanese supplier. As a result, Fam-Mart will ask USA government to work together to talk with Japanese supplier to solve this problem. I believe Japanese will take this case seriously because USA government interfere their products. Then, I should enforce Japanese supplier to improve their food safety standard. From now, I will send my food quality assurance employees to re-check the food process to Japan for make sure that the products is healthy. Additionally, they must help us financing the victims who are still in hospital and for cemetery fees.
Besides victim, I will discuss dock fees issue with Japanese canned fruit executive board to reimburse some money for financing the warehouse, and the ships that park at the dock. This will help our liability conditions. I believe that Japanese supplier should be responsible for this so they have the portion on this problem.
After discussing about technical parts, now I am going to the most crucial part that is getting the credibility back from the customers. I have to hire the expert marketing management to get to win the consumers’ heart. I have to promote that Fam-Mart has accept that the previous products is poisonous, and we are responsible for the victims, and now we are hiring 50 expert food quality assurance employees from Ivy League, that makes sure that our products is safe.
By getting the assistant from Japanese company we will have stronger financial condition to finance the issue, and I believe hiring 50 intelligent food quality assurances will improve the food safety, and we can use this for our marketing campaign in order to “heal†our brand name in society. We should be more concern about this because we can’t do this twice otherwise everyone is not going to buy our products, and we can get a worst profit margin by losing 19% of it.
