Organizational Survival Strategies

This discussion has two options. Please choose either Option A or Option B to respond to. Be sure to indicate within your post which option you chose.

Option A: Hospitals frequently seek ways to ensure survival. Sometimes an adversarial climate cannot be avoided when the action that is being considered is controversial. For example, a hospital may seek to expand its market reach by opening an inpatient drug treatment facility in a small suburban township. The county where the township sits has seen a steady rise in heroin addiction, as well as an increase in hepatitis cases. As a manager, identify the three possible categories of clients within this new clientele network. Give at least one example of a client for each category and explain the reason for your decision.

Option B: In this increasingly difficult economic environment, many organizations have been forced to take drastic operational and systematic measures to stay afloat and maintain their position within the community. If you were a health care manager leading an organization in which its financial, political, and/or social position was threatened, what survival strategies would you employ? Please choose at least three strategies from your textbook to discuss and thoroughly explain the rationale for your choices.

DQ-2
The Challenge of Change

Change is usually positive, but it can also be difficult to embrace at times.  Employees can be resistant to change, while managers may feel that it is necessary for organizational stability.  Discuss the challenge of change as it relates to health care organizations.  What is the overall impact of change on the organization, its employees, and its constituents, and what role does the manager play as an agent of change?  In addition to responding to these questions, review the examples of successful change in your textbook and choose two examples to discuss in greater detail.  What did you learn from these examples?  In each case, how did the individuals overcome the barriers to change, and what were the resulting benefits?

Discuss the myriad elements management would consider when anticipating union bargaining proposals? And, when would management officials prefer centralized (multi-plant) bargaining?

Business Communication

The assignment for Unit 4 requires you to think of a blog that you would like to create.  Next, you have to explain exactly how you would create the blog.  What do you have to do to get your blog online?
Once you explain how you would create your blog, write about what you would put in your blog.  What would you name it?  What are its features?  Would you have videos or links to other sites?  Who would it help?  These are just a few of the questions you should ask yourself.
Do not create the blog.  You must only explain about it in words.

1.Imagine creating a blog that you can use either at work or at home. Explain the entire process of how you would create that specific blog and the key features it should include. You must not create the actual blog entry. Additionally, you can include concepts you learned in the textbook as well as information from other sources. Pay attention to the elements discussed on pages 185 to 190 of the textbook. Your explanation should be a minimum of 200 words with appropriate citations and references.
I will upload the pages out the text book tomorrow.

2.Read messages 9a and 9b on page 268 and messages 10a and 10b on page 303 of your textbook.
Select one message from page 268 and select one message from page 303.

here are two basic pricing strategies that an organization can utilize for introducing new products. The first strategy is Market Skimming, which involves a product being released at a high price with the cost to consumers becoming progressively less expensive the longer a product is available in a market place. The second strategy is Competitive Pricing, which involves launching a product at a low price and then raising it as the product gains maturity in the market place.

What examples from your own experiences and/or the readings can you provide of each? What factors need to be considered in making the decision on which pricing strategy to employ when preparing to launch a new product? How can you use these pricing strategies to stimulate sales of both new and mature product lines?
