equal rights outline
· Select a current social issue related to the rights of ethnic or social groups.
· Research the subject and existing action plans designed to solve the issue.
· Develop a 1,500- to 2,000- word comprehensive speaking outline of your proposition to promote equal rights. A speaking, or sentence outline, is essentially your entire paper written or speech written in outline form. If you were to give a speech based on your paper, you could use the speaking outline to read your paper, hence the name. However, though outlining is a fundamental skill, it is not always something all of us have practiced recently or it may even be a concept that is not readily familiar to you at all. Therefore, examples and further guidance on constructing a speaking outline will be posted in the Main Forum once class begins.
This form of outlining requires you to outline and structure your thoughts under Headings (I, II, etc.), with sub-headings (A., B.), points (1, 2, 3) and sub-points (a,b,c) under each heading, sub-heading, and point. You will still include almost all of the content you would in a traditional paper, but rather than having transitory paragraphs and transition statements, you will simply overlay your paper an outline structure and when you finish with topic A (e.g immigration) you will simply move to topic B (e.g enforcement) rather than trying to write a transition of form a smooth segue.
Within your sentence or speaking outline, Be sure to include the following:
- The issues, challenges, and opportunities experienced by this group
- Basic synopsis of both ‘sides’ of the equal rights issue
- The legal framework relating to this issue
- Summary of existing or proposed solutions of from different groups or locales that are currently or have previously addressed the issue. (e.g. if you were dealing with gay rights, you might need to discuss Don’t Ask Don’t Tell or civil unions as previous potential solutions to the issue)
- Your team’s compromise solution (adapted from previously existing solutions) or a new solution devised by your team as an alternative to existing solutions
- Include at least ten properly formatted academic** references
**NOT Wikipedia or any other such user-supplied content
· Refer to Grading Rubric for additional assignment requirements
· Outline your proposition in Word
· Include at least ten academic references in your research.
· Format your outline consistent with APA guidelines.

As we have seen, some of the Sophists preached epistemological relativism: the view that there can be no universal, objective knowledge of reality because all knowledge is relative to either the individual or his or her culture. As we have also seen, Plato opposed the Sophists and embraced epistemological objectivism. For this essay, you may either (1) argue for relativism and against Plato or (2) argue for objectivism and against the Sophists. Whichever position you choose, your essay will need to show knowledge of what objectivism and relativism are, of Plato’s “Theory of Forms,” and of what Lawhead calls “The Standard Criticism of Relativism.” For example, you might use the Standard Criticism and the Theory of Forms to argue against relativism (certainly Plato used them this way); on the other hand, you might attack these things as part of your defense of relativism. You may use other philosophers we have studied, too, to support your argument, whichever position you take; Nietzsche or Berkeley, for example, might come in handy against objectivism. However you proceed, make your argumentative thesis clear to the reader, and make sure that your essay addresses Plato’s Theory of Forms and his Standard Criticism of Relativism—whether to attack them or to defend them! And remember that you are making an argument: you are trying to convince the reader to agree with your view by giving him or her reasons for thinking that your view is right and the opposing view is wrong. Whatever position you adopt, your instructor will try to read the paper from the point of view of the contrary position—so try to be as convincing as you can for someone who does not share your view!
Must be 3-5 pages and has to use outside resources with correct citations. I know this is posted really late but I need a lot of help!!!!
Reduce waste
In 2012, Americans alone produced over 250 million tons of garbage. One large component of this waste consisted of oil based plastic bags, which are utilized excessively by grocers, restaurants, and stores nationwide. In order to reduce this source of waste, many countries are banning plastic bags or taxing customers for their use. Using at least two scholarly or reputable resources and your textbook, discuss at least two environmental problems caused by such extensive plastic bag use. If you were in charge, what plan might you propose to reduce or eliminate their use? Discuss the economic impacts of implementing your plan versus the financial impacts of making no change in our current use.
The Case For, or Against, New Orleans
Assignment 2: LASA 2—
Sometimes one’s
choices may involve catastrophic decisions and bear great risk and yet there
can be no clear answer. For example, if a person gets a divorce, shutters a
plant, sells a losing investment, or closes their business, will he or she be
better off? The = following case incorporates nearly all of the material you
have covered this far and presents an example of one such choice where nearly
all of the alternatives have a significant downside risk.
Review the= following
information from the article “A Cost-Benefit Analysis of= the New Orleans Flood
Protection System” by Stéphane Hallegatte (2005):
· Hallegatte, an environmentalist, assigns a
probability (p) of a Katrina-like hurricane o= f 1/130 in his cost-benefit
analysis for flood protection. However, the levees that protect New Orleans
also put other regions at greater risk. You ma y assume the frequency of other
floods is greater than Katrina-like events (Vastag & Rein, 2011).
· The new levees that were built in response to
Katrina cost approximately fourteen billion dollars (in 2010). This is in
addition to the direct costs of Katrina (eighty-one billion dollars in 2005).
· 50 percent of New Orleans is at or below sea
level.
· A 100-year event means that there is a 63 percent chance that such an
event will occur within a 100-year period.
· The following are the interested (anchored and/or
biased) constituencies:
o
Residents of New Orleans—both
those that can move and those who cannot move
o
Residents of the
surrounding floodplains at risk from New Orleans levees
o
The Mayor of New
Orleans
o
The federal
government—specifically taxpayers and the Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA)
Assume that the
availability heuristics makes people more risk aver= se (populations drop, at
least in the short term). Consider how this would affect the local economy.
You are an analyst at
FEMA and are= in charge of developing a recommendation for both the state and
the local = governments on whether or not to redevelop New Orleans.
Write a report with
your recommendation. Address the following in your report:
Part A
· Analyze the economics of New Orleans in light
of the above parameters and develop your own Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) for
rebuilding.
· Evaluate the value of the CBA for each
constituency and integrate these estimates into a scenario model and/or
decision tree. Analyze the results.
· Clearly each of these constituencies may both
overlap and be prey to a variety of group dynamics internally. For one of these
options, discuss the decision pitfalls to which they may be susceptible and
make a recommendation on how to alleviate these pressures.
· Starting with your CBA, estimate the relevant
expected utility for the interested constituencies.
Note: You need not have absolute amounts but
your relevant utilities should be proportional to one another.
Hint: If you assume that your total CBA for New Orleans is fixed for each constituency (do not forget the overlaps), then each constituency will have a piece of the utility pie.
Hint: If you assume that your total CBA for New Orleans is fixed for each constituency (do not forget the overlaps), then each constituency will have a piece of the utility pie.
Part B
· Make a case for or against rebuilding the city
of New Orleans. This should be an executive summary; be concise and brief.
Include exhibits.
=
· Whether you are for or against, discuss how social heuristics could be used to your advantage,
both ethically and unethically, in making your case. You may choose to fill the
role of one of the constituents, if you prefer.
Write an 6-7-page
report in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation= of sources. Use proper
spelling and grammar throughout, and keep the text legible and = balanced with
visuals. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M6_A2.doc.
By Sunday, April 5,
2014, deliver your
assignment to the M6: Assignment 2 Dropbox.

Innovation and Communication Presentation Listed below are the names of some of the world’s top technology-related innovators. They have also been called leaders, entrepreneurs, disrupters, or good old-fashioned trouble-makers. They have go
First, choose two leaders from the list below:
- Caleb Chung
- Cory Booker
- Craig Venter
- Dan Olschwang
- Diane Greene
- Hjalmar Winbladh
- Jeremy Stoppelman
- Mark Gorton
- Russell Simmons
- Sunil Shaunak
Now, respond to the following:
- Utilize your research and identify the methods these innovators or leaders are using to communicate through technology in an effort to remain relevant in their industries.
- Explain how technology has advanced each of their businesses, leading to growth.
- Determine if innovative products, such as Google X, iWatch, or the new Cardboard Bike, can be linked to transformational or transactional leadership. Defend your position.
- Self-managed teams are often used to hide inventions from public view. Utilizing your research, identify ways managers and project leaders working under constraints can accomplish this.
Develop a 4–6-slide presentation in PowerPoint format. Include detailed speaker notes in your presentation. Utilize at least two scholarly sources (in addition to your textbook) to complete your research, referencing sources within the text and at the end in a reference list. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M4_A2.ppt.
Make sure you write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship through accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Are Political Parties Beneficial or Detrimental?
Write a 2 to 3 page,APA style paper, arguing why you believe political parties are beneficial or detrimental.- In your paper also include the opposing position along with your rebuttal (of that opposing position). For instance, if you wrote a paper arguing that political parties are beneficial (and why), then your rebuttal would be that political parties are detrimental (damaging or harmful) and why.
- Note: Arguing in a paper means to present reasons for or against a thing. For instance:He argued in favor of political parties or she argued against political parties. Then give your reasons in your paper to support your arguments!
- Include a title page and 3-5 references. Only one of your references may be found online (not Wikipedia). The other references must be found in the Grantham University online library. Please see the rubric below.
