Fundamentals of Effective Communication in the Workplace

Effective communication skills are essential in the workplace. Some businesses invest in training their employees on how to effectively communicate, because effective communication skills go beyond conversations. Employees must know how to express business issues effectively when writing reports and emails. Understanding the benefits of effective communication helps businesses to develop a workforce that is able to communicate effectively with coworkers, customers, and suppliers and increase productivity.

Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

1.Describe a time when you experienced effective communication in a business environment.
2.Discuss at least three (3) reasons why you perceived the communication to be effective, and explain the resulting impact to the business.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

•Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
•Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the professor's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

Response wk 2 to Ruth

Respond to the answer of this question

4. Imagine that you were a therapist who could choose to rely on the theory of Freud, Jung, or Adler. At this point in your reading, which theorist’s ideas would you choose to follow, and why?

While I think all three have important points of view to offer to the theory of personality, for me, I think Jung offers a better fit for myself and what I choose to follow.  Freud and Adler focus too much on childhood and how most of the personality is formed during the childhood years.  Adler didn't give enough merit to the unconscious shaping personality and Freud put too much emphasis on the sexual energy shaping the future.  Jung's theories are most relatable to myself, with a balance between the conscious and unconscious, and being able to be an active participant in our present and future persona.  We are never stuck as long as we continue to be open to learning through conscious growth and inner reflection.

Response to Circa

Give a response to the answer to this question..

3. Give a novel example (not from the text) of the difference between central traits and secondary traits. Can you think of any examples of individuals in modern times that might be used to describe a cardinal trait? (coming up with examples for these questions may be more difficult than you think! It may help to think about people you know from your personal life or from the media to get started).

Central traits are central to one’s personality and secondary traits only occasionally effect someone’s personality. A person could have central traits of being energetic and athletic. These central traits largely effect this person’s personality and daily behavior. The second person could have secondary traits of a football fanatic and being energetic at football games. These traits are only secondary because they do not have a large effect on the person’s behavior. They can only be seen at football games the person attends.

Business Plan

Business and Management
Paper instructions:
13.7 – Business Plans: Studying Samples and Selecting the Best (p. 453)
As a member of a group of venture capitalists with money to invest in start-up companies, you must make a choice. Assume your group will be receiving three business plan proposals. The instructor is the audience.
Your Task: Visit either Bplans.com at http://www.bplans.com or the Small Business Administration site at http://www.sba.gov/smallbusinessplanner/. Search for sample business plans. Browse the list and select three business plans to study. Analyze all parts of each plan. Then, select one that you will recommend for funding. Prepare a memo to your investor group explaining why you think this start-up business will succeed. Also, comment on the organization, format, and writing style of the business plan. What are its strengths and weaknesses? Address your memo to your instructor.
The memo begins with the common introduction material:
Date:
To:
From:
Subject:
Your memo content will start out with an introduction, citing the three companies you’ve analyze. The majority of your memo will describe the organization you’ll recommend to the investor group. In the intro/second paragraph, cite the three companies with a comment about the other two, and leave the one you’ll recommend at the end of this paragraph. In the rest of the memo, you’ll describe the organization you’re recommending. Again, use numbers, bullets, tables, graphs, etc., and you can copy and paste them into the report.
Remember the difference between a conclusion and a recommendation. Ending paragraph(s) of your report is titled: Conclusion and Recommendation. Make sure you summarize (conclusion) and recommend the organization you’re suggesting to the investor group.
Also, I’ve included a Business Plan example in Course Materials.
