Crude rates

Instructions:
Crude rates are particularly useful in epidemiology because they can express disease frequency relative to the size of the population during a specified period of time. However, crude rates must be interpreted with caution as rate differences may result from variability in age and gender distributions rather than from true variations in disease rates. Direct rate adjustments are often made to account for the inherent variability in demographic distributions and better characterize disease frequency and distribution in the population.Table 1 below contains skin cancer data collected according to age and gender (CDC, 2013).
Questions:
1. Calculate the crude skin cancer rates for each age group and gender to complete Table 1.
2. Calculate and interpret the rate ratio of skin cancer for males to females.

monthly data

Paper instructions:
TWO Math QUESTION: 200 words each question
1.Your action research project was designed to collect pretest , interim (at the end of 6 weeks), and posttest data to determine whether playing soft music during study time in a math classroom increased time-on-task and math scores on teacher constructed tests. Two sections of Mr. Jones’ classes were used. Classroom A heard soft music over a 6 week time frame and Classroom B did not. In the next 6 week time frame, Classroom B heard soft music over a 6 week time frame and Classroom A did not. How might these data be used to document success toward these two outcomes: (a) Twenty percent of students will increase their time on task when music is heard during study time and (b) students, on average, will increase their math test scores by 5 points when music is heard during study time.
2.Your year-long project is designed to increase the reading level of students in third grade. You are collecting monthly data find that after 3 months reading speed is up 15% but reading comprehension has moved only 2%. Your end-of-year goal was to have a 25% increase in reading speed and a 15% increase in reading comprehension. What might you do given these results?
