pneumonia

write about pneumonia. A headline/hypothesis sentence could be, for example:
‘Early detection of acute hospital aquired pneumonia’. You could talk about the risk factors that lead to a patient developing pneumonia in the hospital setting.
Or: is oxygen saturation an early detection for acute onset of hospital aquired pneumonia?
My teachers guidelines: Narrow it down to hospital aquired pneumonia, especially if you work in a hospital yourself as that is the acute care setting. I think you would benefit from writing a hypothesis sentence. Ie. is oxygen saturation an early detection for acute onset of hospital aquired pneumonia? Then base your research on that.
Or you could make it more broad, and make a title of ‘Early detection of acute hospital aquired pneumonia’. You could talk about the risk factors that lead to a patient developing pneumonia in the hospital setting and you could go into imediate and ongoing interventions for that patient. It needs to be broken down and relate pneumonia to the acutely ill patient.
You need to focus on a specific pneumonia – CAP, HAP, VAP. Consider incidence both in Australia and worldwide, impact to health care including using resources and cost and impact to patients as in morbidity and mortality. How is it detected, is there specific criteria – are the criteria research based? are there any tools that can assist in the diagnosis or severity and again are they research based – what is the validity of the research that underpins the tools and assessment severity and what is the methodological quality.
What is the treatment options for pneumonia – IVAB, oxygen therapy – high flow or non invasive, fluid therapy, mobilization etc etc.
Each treatment option discussed must be underpinned by research evidence to demonstrate best practice. You should identify any gaps in the literature and evidence and make future recommendations.
