Treasury Foreign Exchange and Financialization

Case study: COUNTRY RISK ANALYSIS AND MANAGING
CRISES: TOWER ASSOCIATES
Journal Articles: Ertürk, I. (2003) “Governance or Financialisation: The
Turkish Case”, Competition and Change, December
Vol.7 No.4
Gabor, D. (2010) “(De)Financialization and Crisis in
Eastern Europe†, Competition and Change,
December Vol. 14 No.3-4
Kaltenbrunner, A. (2010) “International
Financialization and Depreciation: The Brazilian Real
in the International Financial Crisis†, Competition
and Change, December Vol. 14 No.3-4
Questions:
1.
a) Find the U.S. inflation rates between 2002 and 2007 from the IMF
website and calculate the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) exchange
rates for Countries A, B, C and D in the case study. (The inflation rate
in each country in the case can be calculated from the Consumer Price
Index. For Example:
Inflation in 2003 for Country A = 14.7%=((132.9-115.9)/(115.9))
)
b) Did Purchasing Power Parity theory hold in these countries? Which
currencies are over- or under-valued against the US dollar?
c) Find the U.S. dollar lending rates (prime rate) between 2002 and 2007
from the IMF website or the U.S. Federal Reserve website and
calculate whether International Fisher Effect (IFE) theory held between
the exchange rates of Countries A to D and the US dollar.
d) Based on your PPP and IFE calculations above in which countries do
you expect a significant depreciation or appreciation (convergence to
the PPP equilibrium rate) in the near next three to five years?
2. In the case study, Susan from Tower Associates is not familiar with the
financialization literature. Discuss how financialization can be a
possible cause of country crises by referring to the arguments and
evidences in Ertürk (2003), Gabor (2010) and Kaltenbrunner (2010).
i) Word limit is 2,000 words – excluding numerical support and
references.
ii) You should mark your estimated word count in the cover sheet.
iii) Numerical support should appear as tables in the body text of a
Word or pdf document. Appendices should be used only when
absolutely necessary. Under no circumstances send Excel or other
spreadsheets.
Needless to say that you are encouraged to refer to your
personal experiences and other relevant sources in answering the assignment
questions. All borrowings from other sources should be put in quotations and
the academic citation rules should be observed. Such borrowings should not
be extensive.

Cocoanut Grove Fire.

The FAA has recently come under fire for not establishing better technologies to save the lives of passengers on flights unfortunate enough to experience mid-air collisions. These mid-air collisions are the result of distance closing faster than the airplane can be made to react. A brilliant aerospace engineer has designed a passenger jet that constantly monitors radar signatures for input. It calculates the distance between the plane and any other objects within the plane’s area of concern up to 3 miles away.CLICK HERE TO GET MORE ON THIS PAPER.....
Though the plane is agile, it has a threshold of a 10s reaction time. That is to say, the plane can be made to safely avert an object it’s headed for collision with so long as it has at least 10s to react. If the pilot has not reacted within 20s the system begins to prepare itself to react on behalf of the pilot. If the plane cannot react by averting disaster, it will eject all 400 passengers from their seats in a safe “cocoon-like” pod that drifts to the earth below using parachutes. That is to say, if for some reason the time to react, based on the plane’s speed and object’s speed is too short to avert a collision, the plane will launch and and escape sequence to save the passengers.
write a program that receives distance and speed values for the plane and the closest moving object to the plane. The program must calculate the time to impact. If the time to impact, based on the parameters above, is less that 10s then the program will signal the plane to launch the passengers to safety)).CLICK HERE TO GET MORE ON THIS PAPER.....

Physical Education, Motor Development essay

1. Select a journal within Physical Education, Motor Development, Sport, or related field, as found in the library or online and suggested in the references cited the Gabbard book and found in the reference list beginning at the end of the book (approximately page 441). Find one reference cited in the text for a topic in which you are interested. The article must be research based and include data collection and analysis as a part of the article. The Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, ACSM journal, Perceptual and Motor Development journals would be a good place to start.
2. You are responsible for reading the ENTIRE article, but please photocopy the abstractonly and attach it to the back of your writing portion that you will turn in to the instructor or a TA.
3. Your instructor will provide you with additional sources for your topic of choice.
4. Forty possible points may be scored on this writing assignment. 10 points for each of the following sections
• Introduction: The problem, challenge, or issue is identified and, as appropriate, reformulated.
• Methods/Results: Identifies and assesses quality of evidence/data
• Discussion/Critique: Identifies conclusions, implications, and consequences

Micro Economics

Include 3 Micro Economics question. all questions are in the Attached file.
Following is the questions pasted into the web which include
some errors because the website doesn’t support the exponent.
1. Assume that utility function is given by
U(X,Y) = X1/3 Y1/2
(a) Obtain the Marshallian demand functions for goods X and Y.
(b) Compute the indirect utility function and the expenditure function for this
case.
(c) Use the expenditure function calculated in part (b) together with Shephard’s lemma to compute the compensated demand function for good X.
(d) Describe how the compensated demand curve for X is shifted by changes in income or by changes in the price ofthe other good.
(e) Use the results from part (c) together with the uncompensated demand function for good Xto show that the Slutsky equation holds for this case.

2. The output of a farm is related to the inputs, labour and capital, by the function
0 = 100 L10 K1/4
where L and K are labour and capital. Find
(a) The cost-minimising input levels for an output level 0 ifthe rental on capital is r and the wage
IS w.
(b) The long-run cost function.
(c) The effect of an increase in O on long run marginal cost.
(d) The demand for labour as a
function ofw, the level of capital inputs and the price of output, p (i.e., the short-run demand curve for labour).
(e) The demand for
labour and capital as functions ofthe factor prices, w and r, and the price of output, p (i.e., the long run factor demand equations).
3. (a) Consider a Cournot model with two firms. The market inverse demand function is given by
P = 120 – O
where O = q1 + q2
and qi
is the quantity produced by firm i. Each firm’s total cost is quadratic, given by
C1 = q12 and
C2 = q22, respectively.
Determine the
Cournot-Nash equilibrium, and compute the associated profits.
(b) Now suppose that the two firms in the duopoly are permitted to explicitly
collude by forming binding agreements with one another. The market inverse demand function is given by
P = 120 – O
where O = q1q2
and qi is the quantity produced by firm i. Each firm’s total cost is quadratic, given by
C1 = q12 and
C2 = q22, respectively.
Finally,Assume that the firms have equal bargaining power.
Determine the quantities which the firms would agree upon, and compute the associated
profits.
