Compare and Contrast

Compare and Contrast
1. You have been asked by the editor of your local newspaper to contribute a piece designed to inform others about good buys. The editor is especially interested in having you consider items like home computers, racing bicycles, motorcycles, cars, television sets, and stereos. Choose one of these items and compare and contrast two of its brands or types. You may wish to argue that one brand is better than another, or you may want to describe the features of each and then allow readers to make up their minds. In either case, remember that your readers depend on your expertise to make the best choice.
2. Explain to the members of your class the differences and similarities between two hobbies, two modes of exercising, two movies with a common theme, two major styles of playing tennis (or any sport), two current music styles, two political figures, two rock stars, two roommates you have had. Before you begin writing, consider your readers’ interests, expectations, and degree of knowledge about your subject.
