Ancient culture

During Odysseus adventures and struggle to get home he must resist many temptations. These temptations include places that might be like home but which, nevertheless, are not home, and females who might be like Penelope and in some regards might even excel her but who are nevertheless not Penelope.  Discuss how the places Odysseus visits are like his home yet unlike his home and how the female figures he encounters, both divine and mortal are like Penelope and yet different from Penelope and yet different from Penelope. How do these places and persons(divine and mortal) both help and hinder Odysseus in his quest to reach Ithaca?
