The Struggle to Attain the American Dream

Paper instructions:
History- The Struggle to Attain
    the American Dream, Part III

K HERE TO GET
MORE ON THIS ESS different facet of the struggle to achieve the American Dream, which is referenced so powerfully in Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech: Equal rights for people of color, equal rights for women, and the opportunity for the enrichment of the society as a whole and for the individual pursuit of happiness afforded by legal immigration. They reveal the great challenge America has had in applying its democratic ideals fairly and consistently over its sometimes tumultuous history, so as to afford true justice to its citizens and to foster their individual and collective “pursuit of happiness.”

Compose an essay of at least 2000 words but no more than 3000 words (not including your references list) in which you examine the conflict between the fact that the United States is a nation of immigrants and the hostility that is expressed toward each new group of immigrants who arrive here. In addition, detail the ways in which that hostility has been overcome.
Note: The rights issues of Weeks 7 and 8 are directly relevant here, as all immigration decisions have rights implications and consequences.
