philosophy of nursing science

Description:
The following link http://youtu.be/z1NwrbN86qQ is a PBS film on "String Theory" watch this and think about how it applies to the topics we have been discussing.
The PBS film on string theory reflects so much of our studies. The laws of experimental design, the paradigm shift in science at the core level of physics ( the hardest of sciences) a revolution, as Kuhn would put it. we see postmodernism and its impact on every aspect of our culture, science included. I also see a paradox in physics, and in that respect, is science dealing with the same issues that the arts or humanities have grappled with over the centuries? Are the scientists of string theory dissenting voices? Do we have nurse scientists with dissenting voices? Can multiple scientific paradigms coexist? How do we coexist in a global setting? Is our attempt to control and predict changing energy or vibrations (for better and for worse) at a level we never fathomed? As a Reiki practitioner this is intriguing to me and the films implications support the notion of positive energy alignment. The dichotomy between science and philosophy is clearly stated in this film, yet indirectly unites it. I believe nursing does this as well, and is an elegant extension of the universe in all its glory, its search for truth, and its rest and patience with ambiguity. then summarize your significant learnings for this course. Any new learning? Any strengthening of already understood knowledge? Any changing of thought or view points? What helped you learn best ( films, youtube, readings, discussions etc.). Do you feel more prepared to design a study with a given philosophical framework in your given area of interest?
