Bodily Systems



C.  Conduct the experiment and present your results and conclusions (suggested length of 1–2 pages) by providing the following:

1.  The results of the experiment in which you do the following:

a.  Record the data for your experiment using the blank template you created in part B 3c.

b.  Create a visual representation of your results.

c.  Explain the results of the experiment with reference to the independent and dependent variables.

2.  A conclusion in which you do the following:

a.  Summarize the results of your experiment.

b.  Explain how your results compare with your hypothesis (i.e., does the data confirm or refute your hypothesis?).

c.  Explain how your findings relate to chemical digestion.





D.  Explain the interdependency of the digestive system, respiratory system, and cardiovascular systems in providing cells with necessary nutrients (suggested length of 1–2 pages) by doing the following:

1.  Create a flow chart that shows the step-by-step absorption of carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids.

2.  Describe each of the steps involved in the absorption of carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids.

3.  Explain how nutrients are delivered to the cells from the capillaries.

4.  Explain the role of hepatic portal circulation in transporting nutrients.

5.  Describe how oxygen is delivered to the cells for use in metabolic processes.

6.  Summarize how the urinary system functions in removing wastes from the body.
