Each student must write a paper of 7-8 pages. The paper should be a historiographical (or review) essay related to the history of law and crime in modern Europe. The paper must compare two books on similar topics that are chosen from the bibliography posted on Blackboard. First, you must comment on the scope, thesis, sources, and methodology of each book. Secondly, you must compare and contrast the approaches of each book to their subject. Students should also suggest how future research might repair weaknesses in the field.
