Description:
ACTIVITY ONE: MULTIDISCIPLINARY MEETINGStudents are required to attend a multidisciplinary meeting, case conference or other meeting which occurs within the practice setting. The purpose is to observe hospital ward((+ 60) older people, basic group dynamics between team members and the role that each member of the multidisciplinary team takes in the meeting. The student will need to obtain permission to carry out this activity and record the observations from the mentor. The mentor works with the student to facilitate this experience and may discuss aspects of individual meetings prior to the observation.
If the student’s professional group does not usually attend multidisciplinary team meetings, their mentor may need to facilitate this activity within an appropriate department, service or practice environment.Click Here To Get More On This Paper.........
Observation Notes:
Reflections
From your observations, write a reflection on the meeting (minimum 500 words).
Consider the models/theories you have read about in preparation for the interprofessional activities. Did you observe any in practice?
What was the purpose of the meeting? Was this a regular or one off meeting?
Was it service user focused?
Was the service user, their carer or advocate present at the meeting or was feedback
given?
Did you feel that this was appropriate involvement of the service user, their carer or
advocate, at the right time?
Was the content of the meeting documented?
How many individuals were present and how many professions, teams and agencies
were represented?
Who was the group leader and were they also chairing the meeting? What roles did others
take?
What non-verbal communication did you notice; did it support the verbal
communications message
How were decisions made?
Who is missing from the meeting?
What was not discussed?
How did you feel being an observer in the meeting?
