South Korean president Park Geun-hye’s trustpolitik: What lesson should she learn from the previous presidents?

President    Park’s trustpolitik    seeks    to engage    North    Korea    while maintaining    toughness    at the same time.
• Some observers interpret    it being closer to    “Sunshine    policy” but    others see    it    similar    to Lee Myung-bak’s hardline    policy.
• Discuss what    lesson Park’s trustpolitik can draw from the experience of    previous    presidents    (from    Roh Tae-woo to    Lee Myung-bak).
• You  may    mention several    lessons, but focus on the one which you think    is the    most    important.
• Depending on how you frame or    define the    lesson, it could include    several    points. But    they should be coherent and you    should present them under one    overarching    concept.
• State your thesis (the key    lesson) clearly.
• Support    your    thesis  with    evidence    (from past    presidents’    experiences)
• Consider    competing    arguments, but    make    sure    which you    think    is more    convincing    with evidence or    if you    can incorporate    competing    arguments together.
