Each student must select one of the following topics:
• Classic/Historical Management
• Ethics and/or Social Responsibility
• Motivating and Rewarding Employees
• Managing/Developing Teams
• Current Issues in Human Resource Management
• Organization Change – Focus on current economical issues
Topics are broad based. You will need to focus your research on something within the topic. For example, Organizational Change – Chrysler Motors – How has the company responded to the down-turned economy and how does it plan to survive? What changes will the organization have to make and how will the changes affect the lower level employees?
You will need to tie-in competencies from the textbook to your paper.
Paper Requirements
• APA format is required – See the OWL Link for APA formatting instructions
• The paper should be a minimum of 8 pages typed (includes title page, abstract, and references)
• Use Courier New, 12-point font
• You should minimize the use of words like I, me, my, he, she, we, them, they, their, etc. Keep in mind this is a formal business research paper
• Minimum of five resources – No more than two internet sources may be used –WIKI is not an acceptable resource
• This is a formal business research paper. It must be objective and not reflect personal opinion.
• Each student should work independently of each other. DO NOT PLAGIARIZE. Academic dishonesty will result in severe sanctions.
• Use correct grammatical skills – spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, etc.
Other
• A rough draft of the paper will be due approximately at mid-term. This assignment will be graded. The rough draft must include a cover page, abstract page, at least three pages of content with in-text citations and the reference page. See the Course Calendar for the specific dates.
• The OWL link located in the Project folder will provide you with a guide of APA formatting. Format grading will be based on the OWL criteria.
• POWERPOINT – You will create a PowerPoint slide show to go with the written paper. The PowerPoint must be a minimum of 10 slides. You may use a title slide and reference slide but these are not included in the 10 slide minimum.
• This project is worth 35% of your final grade. The rough draft is worth 5%, the written paper/powerpoint slide show is worth 20%, and the in-person presentation is worth 10%.
• I am happy to help you work through the paper. Make sure you turn in the rough draft on time so I can review and make comments/adjustments before the final paper is due.
Presentation
• Each student will present their project in class during the final class meeting or the on-campus proctored event. The presentation should be between 7 - 10 minutes and include the PowerPoint slide show. You will submit the written paper and PowerPoint on the assigned due date using the ANGEL project drop box.
