Investigate one ofthe following topics and discuss inrelation to industrial relations. The object ofthis assignment is to develop a more detailed understanding of one significant aspect of
industrial relations. This assignment must conform to normal University standards, including full referencing, a reference list and an executive summary or abstract.
Topic 1: Is there room for both conflict and cooperation in the workplace?
Topic 2: A key feature of the global industrialisation process is the shift from status to contract as a basis for authority in the employment relationship. How has this process impacted Australia industrial relations?
Topic 3: There is increasing discussion regarding the need forflexibility in employment arrangements in Australia. Discuss the role offlexibility in the Australian context, critically evaluating the advantages and disadvantage
offlexible working arrangements from both management and employee perspectives.
Criteria for Assessment:
Demonstrated understanding of relevant industrial relations theory;
quality and completeness of your analysis ofthe negotiation;
evidence of appropriate reading and research, including a wide range of sources;
