Global Transition. Assume that you are one of a team of U.S. women transitioning to Dubai to work as project managers of a construction project. What obstacles do you think you will be facing? What questions do you have about the people you will be working with? What can you do to increase your opportunities for success? Evaluate how negotiating styles differ globally and are dependent on individual characteristics, situational contingencies, and strategic and tactical processes. Articulate the stages of negotiations and effective practices in each stage. Evaluate the cross cultural adjustments that affect managers on global assignments and their re-entry transition. Identify how women can be coached for global managerial success.Click Here To Get More On This Paper!!!!
Now assume that you are a male project manager and address the recommendations you would make if you were to coach your female counterparts who will be transitioning to Dubai to work as project managers on the same construction project you are assigned to. What recommendations do you have for the new female managers? What can you do as a male manager to help increase the opportunities for success among your female co-workers? How do negotiating styles differ globally? What are the chief differences between negotiating styles in the United States and those in other countries important to trade with the United States, like China, Russia, Japan, Brazil, and India? How are negotiating styles dependent on individual characteristics, situational contingencies, and strategic and tactical processes?
What characterizes synergistic negotiating? Why is this approach a reasonable way to find win-win solutions among negotiating parties from different cultures? What strategies can companies employ to ease the transition for global managers who are returning to their country of origin? What strategies can these global managers employ to make their own transition smoother and less stressful? What are the chief challenges women face as global managers? How do these challenges differ from one part of the world to another? What strategies have been most effective in helping prepare women for global managerial success?
